Perspective: Peaceful Presidents
In light of recent tensions between the United States and countries like Venezuela and Iran, I thought it might be fruitful to put things into some perspective. Particularly when it comes to the Left's criticisms of President Trump and President Bush and of course their praise of Obama.
President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." October 9th 2009, he hadn't even been in office for 10 months. Policy talk regarding emphasizing the role of international institutions (over sovereign authority of individual nations), denuclearization, and climate policy. Yet he was barely president. Did he delivery on this 'talk'? I am not familiar with the Nobel Peace Prize process but I am willing to wage much on the likelihood that it takes longer than a month. So what did Obama do between Jan 20th and Sept1?

Hmm nothing in there about Nuclear disarmament. How about climate change. Nope. International cooperation? "Waiver Under the Trade Act of 1974 With Respect to the Republic of Belarus" July 1st 2009. We all know why he got the award, first black president right? That is quite an accomplishment right? It is if you believe that America is full of racists as the progressive left will have us all believe (and keep us divided).
Was the award prophetic? Was Obama peaceful?
"The United States Government, under the Trump administration, reportedly drops a bomb every 12 minutes, which means that 121 bombs are dropped in a day, and 44,096 bombs per year. The Pentagon’s data show that during George W. Bush’s eight years he averaged 24 bombs dropped per day, that is, 8,750 per year. Over the course of Obama’s time in office, his military dropped 34 bombs per day, 12,500 per year." -https://www.newsclick.in/us-government-drops-121-bombs-every-day-reports-say I like pictures. Had to dig to get this data, most complete I could find that includes all of 2018:
President: Total Bombs Dropped
Bush: 77663
Obama: 135307
Trump: 78912
So if we consider the total dropped, Obama has virtually double the bombs dropped than does Bush. Factor in that Bush had two years where major military offensives took place (2001 & 2003) it does not make Obama look any better (far worse IMO). Trump is on his way to crush both their statistics, but nobody gave Trump a fricken' Nobel Peace Prize! I wonder if Oslo considered yank the award back? Under Obama, not only did we not get out of the wars in countries that Bush got us into but military operations were expanded to Libya, Yemen, Syria, and even Palestine! (really, Palestine?).
I feel it is worth stating that all three presidents mentioned have had to deal with the military industrial complex, and I feel that to the credit of all three that at certain points they have resisted. Obama pushed back hard regarding getting involved in Syria, but his 'red line' screwed him over. Trump has limited his response to minimize casualties, in Syria, and more recently with regard ti Iran (following the downing of our drone). I believe that Obama also desired to limit our presence in Libya, avoiding a new Iraq or Afghanistan. Even Bush pushed back against invading Iraq unless there was some justification and evidence that the American people might get behind, so the intelligence community fabricated Iraqi support of Al Qaeda and the WMD's that the state dept promised would be found.
Executive Orders 2009 Obama, up to July, Not signed in Aug or Sept.
I'd like to go back to Trump, his recent restraint with regard to Iran has softened my opinion of him a bit, I don't know what is entailed in the cyber-attack response that the US allegedly conducted, but outside appearances would indicate that when it comes to striking with our military he weighs and values human life. Then again, 2020 is right around the corner...

Spooky that Trump has already dropped in 2 years what Bush did in 8 years, 2019 is looking like a repeat of 2018 or more.
